USI Congress Elections

USI elections are approaching and every student from a USI affiliated college is entitled to seek a nomination. Nominations for the following positions close at 5pm on February 26, 2010: President, Deputy President, Education Officer, Welfare Officer, Equality Officer and LGBT Rights Officer.              

In order to be nominated, you must seek the support of a local students’ union. Nominations must be presented on union headed paper, signed by the president of the union and posted to:

USI Elections Committee, 3-4 St. Agnes Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12. 

Local unions may nominate more than one candidate for each position.

Equality Standing Conference will take place on the 5th & 6th of March 2010 in Cork City.  

Opening of submission of motions and nominations (for the 4 part time officer positions) is Monday 8th February.

Close of submission of motions and nominations (for the 4 part time officer positions) is Friday 19th February at 17:00.

The positions available are: Disability Rights Officer, Gender Equality Officer, Mature Students Officer and International Students Officer.

Please circulate this email to any student you think may be interested in taking up a position. Nominations must be submitted on union headed paper by the CO President and include evidence of student status of the candidate. 

USI also encourages you to submit motions to conference on equality issues rather than to Congress. Motions can only mandate the following officers: Equality, LGBT, Disability Rights, Gender Equality, Mature & International.

Please refer to the USI Constitution, Schedule D  for full details on USI Election Procedures, including amongst other details, the requirement for a €50 refundable deposit to be submitted before the close of nominations together with details of the nominee’s college and student status and text of a manifesto of not more than three pages (A4) size typed.
